The National Museum in Stockholm, located on Blasieholmen, was completed in 1866 and reopened in 2018 after extensive renovations. It stands as Sweden’s leading art museum, boasting an impressive collection of over 700,000 artworks spanning from the 16th to the 20th century. This art treasure trove includes significant pieces by both Swedish and international artists.
The building, designed by Friedrich August Stüler, is an impressive architectural achievement and one of Europe’s oldest art museums. Nationalmuseum has been a state-listed historical monument since 1935 and is owned by the National Property Board of Sweden.
During the renovation, Stålprofil Systems supplied secure steel profiles, which, in turn, became burglary-rated elements with a pine wood cladding that was painted to resemble the old oak wood windows. The glass in the window elements is clear with UV protection to safeguard the artworks inside the National Museum.
